The PRISM programme builds on PSL University’s strong tradition of combining fundamental research with industrial applications through long-standing collaborations with leading companies, including BASF, L’Oréal, Saint-Gobain Recherche, Syensqo, and TotalEnergies. These partners actively contribute to the programme by providing scientific expertise, industrial perspectives, training activities, expert lectures, networking events, company visits, and intersectoral secondments. Through these interactions, doctoral students gain first-hand experience of how fundamental research can address real-world challenges in sustainable soft matter and the ecological transition.
Beyond scientific training, PRISM places a strong emphasis on career development and transferable skills. Dedicated courses on sustainability, innovation, project management, entrepreneurship, communication, and collaboration with the non-academic sector complement the research projects. This comprehensive training enables doctoral students to better understand industrial research environments, innovation processes, and the translation of scientific discoveries into practical applications.
By integrating academic excellence with industrial engagement, PRISM prepares a new generation of researchers capable of bridging academia and industry. Graduates will develop not only cutting-edge expertise in soft matter science and sustainability assessment, but also the interdisciplinary and professional skills required for careers in research, development, innovation, and strategic decision-making in both the public and private sectors.
